Monson Project

A master plan was developed for this site, carved out of an eighteen-acre forested property. The program included a low maintenance landscape, with comfortable outdoor spaces for easy outdoor living, inviting circulation patterns, successful aesthetic treatment for a huge septic seepage bed, and plenty of room to garden. Lawn and planting beds were designed to update an authentic colonial look, a very long winding driveway placed to accommodate utilitarian and hospitality needs, a stone wall constructed to retain a sloping back yard, and patios and walkways placed to connected interior and exterior “rooms” of this gracious home. The client’s interest in the environmental sustainability was supported by integrating existing site characteristics and using abundant native plants and trees.
